Greetings SPECHS families, students, and community! As we navigate through the second nine weeks of the 2026–2027 school year, I want to express my continued gratitude and pride in serving as the Director of Sabas Perez Early College High School and part of the Dr. Leonides G. Cigarroa High School administrative team. This second nine weeks is a critical period in our academic calendar as our students balance high school requirements with college coursework while preparing for upcoming STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams and college final exams. Working alongside our dedicated faculty and staff, we remain committed to ensuring every SPECHS student receives the resources and academic support needed to excel. We encourage all of our students to stay focused, prioritize daily attendance, and take advantage of tutoring opportunities to finish the fall semester strong. As we work toward academic success, please keep these key calendar dates in mind: Thanksgiving Break will provide a well-deserved time to rest and recharge right before our major testing period begins; Friday, December 18, 2026, will mark the last day of the second nine weeks and fall semester; Winter Break will run from Monday, December 21, 2026, through Friday, January 8, 2027; and students will return to campus on Monday, January 11, 2027. Thank you for your ongoing partnership, trust, and commitment to making this school year a success—We are the Mighty Toros, "The Pride of South Laredo!" Go Toros! — Warm regards, Cindy Dominguez, Director, Sabas Perez Early College High School
